action
We’re committed to reducing our impact on the environment.
Powerful partnerships and programs
Our third-party partnerships help us ensure we’re meeting objective standards and implementing environmental initiatives that create real and lasting change.
Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP)
The Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP) is a non-profit organization that certifies printing and packaging facilities and their suppliers’ sustainability best practices. Certification involves publicly available, industry-specific criteria and third-party auditors.
SGP was created by the printing industry specifically for the printing industry, and takes into account the entire print facility and supply chain—its process, product, and social responsibility.
Seven of our facilities are currently SGP-certified. We are continuing to work on certifying additional facilities and reviewing our suppliers for certification.
Science Based Targets initiative
Through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), DCM’s near-term science-based targets for reducing our greenhouse gas emissions have been officially validated.
We plan to reach our 2030 target of a 44% reduction in absolute scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions through a number of actions, including consolidating and closing manufacturing facilities, investing in new equipment, and purchasing renewable energy credits. Through renewable energy credits, we’re supporting the development of renewable energy infrastructure that is expected to become an increasingly important part of Canada’s electricity grid.
Forest Stewardship Council
The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) is an international non-profit organization that promotes responsibly managed forests via timber certification.
DCM has been FSC-certified since 2007. Using FSC-certified paper is an important way we help maintain sustainable supply chains.
FSC-certified forests also maintain and conserve forest ecosystem services; uphold the rights of indigenous peoples; and maintain high conservation values.
PrintReleaf
PrintReleaf is an international reforestation program that uses innovative software to replant trees used in print production.
Clients can share updates on their sustainability efforts via QR codes on printed material, and by posting PrintReleaf logos, links, and certifications online and on social platforms. With a quick scan or click, customers can instantly see how many trees have been replanted on a company’s behalf.
